When Your Magick Practice is Running on C- Energy

Meanwhile, most people aren’t even doing magick consistently. Because life gets in the way.
Yesterday, I forgot to do my 18 / 8C breathing. While literally prepping to teach it.
AND I STILL FORGOT 😭😭😭
I’m super getting into breathwork, especially how it facilitates powerful magick.
So, since Monday, I told myself “I’m gonna do 18 / 8C breath DAILY.”
Not only as part of my magick practice, but also as self-care. Learning to breathe well is foundational to health.

But this morning? (It's 8:50 AM as I write this.)
I did a shitty, abbreviated version.
Instead of 18, I did 9 breaths. No visualizations. No humming. Just zombie-mode breathing.
This is what real-life magick looks like.
You forget. You half-ass it.
I deluded myself into thinking I'd remember.
"It's just breathing, right?"
Ha! Life keeps proving otherwise. My schedule is packed. My brain is fried.
Eventually you think: "I've had too many C- days in a row. This should be occasional—not the default."
I know a lot of self-help lit shames you, like “you’re failing because you didn't plan for success.”
I dislike that framing, because it’s so binary. Sometimes, life happens despite our best intentions, ya know?
But…if there’s one thing I’ve learned from my obsession with productivity books, it’s this:
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”
If I want this 18 / 8C habit to stick, I need a smart, low-resistance system for my ADHD / Autistic brain.
Because temporal discounting is a real thing, especially for those of us with poor executive functioning.

My New System (Steal This)
Alchemize current focus. Before the day's chaos consumes me (i.e. right now), I'll use my current momentum add new techniques (extra inhale, metronome timing) to my 18 / 8C slides (btw, you can download those slides in the link at the top).
Set a reminder. My morning alarm rings tomorrow. And then within 2 minutes, a voice reminder goes off my phone to “sit in my office chair and do the breathing.”
Use the slides as cheat sheet. The slides from that webinar are my cheatsheet. I will go through them as a way to keep my groggy, just-woke-up-mind on track
Make it foolproof. I'm not relying on my scattered brain. I'm opening my cheat sheet on my monitor so when I stumble to my desk tomorrow, it's the first thing I see.
This isn't about discipline. This is about making a resilient system.
Why This Works (Especially for ADHD Brains)
🚫 Willpower fails. Systems work.
⚡ Magick thrives on consistency. But consistency requires ease, not effort.
🧠 If I leave room for choice, I’ll fail. So I remove all friction.

The Takeaway
Rituals don't survive on willpower. They survive on systems.
A bad day is fine. A bad system isn't.
If magick isn't automated into your life, life will automate you.
