The Enchanted Right Has Hijacked Our Magick

We’re in a crisis of meaning. Civilization is spiraling. People feel lost. And in the face of this uncertainty, the Right is doubling down on religious fundamentalism. They claim modernity is the problem and that a return to “traditional values” will fix everything.

They’re pretending to sell solutions but actually—they’re selling nostalgia, rewriting history to make the past seem like a golden age.

But here’s what really alarms me off:

These right-wing extremists stole our playbook.

• Ecstatic ritual? We were burned for that.

• Psychedelics? They banned it.

• Aliens, UFOs, and the occult? They mocked us for it.

And now? They’re rebranding it as their own. They’ve Christopher Columbus-ed our craft—claiming the same esoteric techniques they once persecuted. They’re the kid in high school who made fun of kimchi for being stinky, and now they’re a food influencer making kimchi stew their signature dish (and calling it “My Red Cabbage Soup”). They’re dressing up witchcraft, slapping Jesus on it, and calling it a revelation.

We’ve been doing this for thousands of years before Abrahamic religions even existed. And now they think they invented ecstatic rituals?

Witches Are the Only Ones Who Can Stop Them

Forget GOOP spirituality—that’s not us. That’s just privileged self-care wrapped in woo.

Forget LARPing witches who romanticize the past like the Right does.

Forget the Joyless Left—the Tankies, the Communists, the call-out crusaders who weaponize therapy talk and cancel people for being human. The ones who suck the life out of every space where joy, vulnerability, and actual humanity should thrive.

All the above? They say they’re progressives, but they do the same thing the Right does — allow themselves to be conditioned by society and project their demons outside themselves.

Real witches are the only ones who have a shot at stopping this fundamentalist cancer. But for too long, we’ve either been too soft (GOOP) or too stuck in the past (traditionalist witchcraft). Meanwhile, the “Enchanted Right” has mastered storytelling and seized the spiritual imagination of the masses.

Progressive spirituality lost the plot a long time ago. What the right-wing Christians offer is sooooo much more compelling than this weak shit we have on the Left.

But here’s what they all don’t have: AGILE Witchcraft. 

Real witches are agile. Slippery slopes and oxygen-depleted mountain tops? No worries, we got it. Because we don’t just adapt—we evolve. Want to call us legion? Fine, we’re legion, we’re the demons that the Right want to destroy, but can’t.

Why?
Because we have actual spiritual power.
While the others project their demons outward, we integrate ours.

Their rigid, monoculture system is fragile. Radical Christians think there is an End of Times and only their ilk get in. The others in the Left are also just conditioned automatons. Meanwhile, we witches thrive in biodiversity…the same way nature thrives in biodiversity.

They’re the potato famine (which started because the Irish only planted one type of potato, so when disease came in, the whole crop was destroyed).

We’re the Amazonian rainforest, the most diverse place in the world, with millions of flora and fauna. People say that the Amazon has so much biodiversity that there’s cures for cancer somewhere in there (we just haven’t found it yet).

Well, the right-wingers are the cancer, the other Lefties are useless, and we witches are the cure.

Because their magic is about control, hierarchy, and obedience based on false memory and false knowledge of the present, because everything is colored by fear and spiritual bypass.

Ours is about power, resilience, and transformation. We stand in actual reality. And we alchemize our fear.

AGILE Magick: The Left’s Missing Weapon

We are reclaiming magick—not as a relic of the past but as a survival strategy for the future.

The world is not going back to some imagined “better time.” The future belongs to those who can navigate instability—not those who cling to collapsing systems. And right now, witchcraft is the only living spiritual force on the Left that has the power to counterbalance the rise of dominionist theocracy.

This is not your mother’s witchcraft.

This is your great-great-great-grandmother’s witchcraft—the kind that kept her alive while she carried a baby on her hip, stirred three pots on the stove, and endured a husband who wanted her barefoot and pregnant. She survived. And now you’re here to make sure her sacrifice was not in vain.

This book isn’t just about me. It’s about YOU…and US—this new breed of witches.

Because the people who read this newsletter, you guys are NOT the spiritually bypassing, love-n-light-only, GOOP, entitled, ungrounded witches that seem to dominate the witchy conversation. You know, those who just talk about being ecstatic wild women blah blah blah.

Haha, wild? Wild where? In your non-intersectional, elite, privileged world where you can put on your NPR voice and talk about witchcraft only for yourself and your “high vibes only” cronies, you Nancy-Pelosi-girl-boss-wanna-be betch.
